Norfolk walnuts will be back very soon! These carefully dried and graded new 2025 season walnuts will last well to Christmas and beyond (if you can resist them for that long). Deliciously buttery walnuts, grown at Red Hat Orchards in West Norfolk and hand harvested, sorted and packed by Mathew Warwick. |
The walnut trees at Red Orchards were planted in November 2001 with named walnut varieties from Britain, Europe and North America. Varieties grown include Axel, Lara, Buccaneer and Broadview.
This year's harvest is mainly of Broadview variety nuts but with some nuts of other varieties including a few of the distinctive red "Redhat" nuts bred by Mathew.
The trees and nuts are unsprayed. After gathering they're dried outside in the sun before being hand graded and packed.
Crack and remove shell, eat!
Store in a cool, dry place.

Really like this dish, great flavour and some real substance to it!
Fantastic grain for making risotto's and stews creates a really great creamy texture during cooking without the addition of dairy (although the addition of dairy elevates everything!) They don't overcook unlike rice so its almost a foolproof alternative, the end results are a moreish bite to the cooked grain.
Super healthy snack and you don't miss the salt at all because they are so tasty!
The Brazil nuts are tasty, and knowing their sale supports a small local community, makes them even more appealing. The large bags last some time, as eating a few each is sufficient for our nutritional needs.
