| These oat groats are 'naked' because the hull naturally falls away from the grain without threshing. They're a superb alternative to brown rice, quicker to cook and with a creamier texture and richer flavour. |
These naked oat groats are grown by Turners of Bytham in Lincolnshire. The farm also grows wheat and barley so the oat groats may contain occasional other cereal grains.
Add cooked (or if cooking time allows dry grains) to stews and casseroles. Use cooked grains in salads.
Rinse, bring to the boil then simmer until tender (about 35 - 45 minutes). Speed up cooking by pre-soaking for a few hours.

| A spiced porridge of whole naked oat groats topped with fruit, nuts and seeds |
This very simple recipe lends itself to countless variations, depending what's in season. Here it's topped with almonds and poached pears.
Whole oat porridge tastes similar to a more usual porridge of rolled or jumbo oats but with a more wholesome, pleasantly chewy texture. A large batch can be made and stored in the fridge for a couple of days; just add a little liquid to loosen the porridge when reheating.

These oats are very tasty compared to standard incl. steel cut oats. They make very creamy porridge if used either cracked or whole (soaked & then cut to release starch).
I have soaked them overnight, quick pulse in food processor & then cooked with 50/50 milk & water for less than 40 minutes, for an excellent whole grain porridge. Distinctive taste with a hint of grass & very creamy. Highly recommend it.
It is so nice to find a naked oat that has not had to be heat-treated to remove the husk and some of the nutrients in the process.
I flake these at home as well as eat whole like rice. They make just the nicest porridge, either hot or cold. I soak them overnight in a little lemon juice and water to ferment them and reduce the phytates somewhat.
I buy in bulk, then freeze them on the day they arrive and defrost in small batches as required. Once flaked, I store them in the fridge as they have very high levels of essential oils, which are best protected in the fridge.
Tasty and wholesome! I highly recommend

Great product. Made a gorgeous Ful Maddamas from them
Just came back to order some more and thought I'd leave a review. These are really great and the simplicity and nutrition of them is a winner. I've only used them so far as 'cereal' with oat milk or as part of a muesli but they really are superb and I'm looking forward to trying them in some of the recipes here too (that fridge cake looks yum!)
The box arrived as expected and I happened to have all the ingredients for the black lentil and roasted tomato dish on the recipe card within. What a dish! These lentils are very special indeed. I'm glad I doubled the quantities and made enough for 2 days.
Great selection of beans and I love the pea granola.
I really love these, great flavour and texture, I add them to salads all the time.
