Help secure Wakelyns for the future

Wakelyns experimental farm has inspired and guided us since before we founded Hodmedod in 2012. Martin and Ann Wolfe bought the fields that became Wakelyns Agroforestry in 1992 and set about establishing a farm to trial and demonstrate new farming systems, underpinned by diversity at every level.

Their approach pursued diversity between and within species, in the woody rows that divide the cropped alleys and in the crops themselves - most famously in the cereal populations Martin developed with the Organic Research Centre.

The Wolfe family want to secure and enhance the long-term environmental and social legacy of Wakelyns through charity ownership and governance by a new Wakelyns Charitable Community Benefit Society (CCBS).

You can become a voting Member of the CCBS by buying “community shares” at £1 each - and optionally making a donation on which the CCBS can claim Gift Aid.

If sufficient funds are raised to purchase one owner’s 50% stake, David will gift his share. This will safeguard and grow Wakelyns as a living laboratory for climate-resilient agriculture and food production, supporting nature recovery and ensuring long-term public and community engagement with nature, farming and food production.
