Naked barley flour, stone-milled in small batches through our own mill at the Hodmedod Mill House in Suffolk, from barley grown by Jeremy Dickin at Oak Farm in Lincolnshire. PLEASE NOTE: Our speciality flours are freshly milled in small batches. Depending on our milling schedule orders including speciality flour are generally delivered in 2-5 working days but on occasion may take up to 10 working days. |
Naked barleys are varieties of barley, Hordeum vulgare, that naturally shed their inedible husks when harvested and threshed. Our flour is milled from naked barley that's been polished to remove any residual husk to produce a smooth and light flour.
Naked Barley Flour is nutritious, versatile and flavoursome, faintly earthy with a delicate sweet aftertaste.
Try substituting naked barley flour for wheat flour in any recipe not requiring the elasticity of high gluten dough.
Naked Barley Flour has a slightly sweet and malty flavour.
Use alone, or mix with other flours to make flat breads, crispbreads, pancakes, waffles, cakes, pastries and biscuits.

Fantastic grain for making risotto's and stews creates a really great creamy texture during cooking without the addition of dairy (although the addition of dairy elevates everything!) They don't overcook unlike rice so its almost a foolproof alternative, the end results are a moreish bite to the cooked grain.
Super healthy snack and you don't miss the salt at all because they are so tasty!
The Brazil nuts are tasty, and knowing their sale supports a small local community, makes them even more appealing. The large bags last some time, as eating a few each is sufficient for our nutritional needs.
Fab
These are lovely creamy Brazil nuts which pack a lot of flavour. Highly recommended.
