Organic naked barley flour, stone-milled in small batches through our own mill at the Hodmedod Mill House in Suffolk, from barley grown by Mark Lea at Greenacres Farm in Shropshire. PLEASE NOTE: Our speciality flours are freshly milled in small batches. Depending on our milling schedule orders including speciality flour are generally delivered in 2-5 working days but on occasion may take up to 10 working days. |
Naked barleys are varieties of barley, Hordeum vulgare, that naturally shed their inedible husks when harvested and threshed. Our flour is milled from naked barley that's been polished to remove any residual husk to produce a smooth and light flour.
Naked Barley Flour is nutritious, versatile and flavoursome, faintly earthy with a delicate sweet aftertaste.

I am an impulsive cooker and have rarely soaked any pulses when I fancy them. The naked peas (essentially split peas) solve this problem. The pink ones stayed more whole than yellow split peas, a fact I love. The taste is similar to yellow peas with a hint of red lentil and a texture similar to chick peas. I haven't tried it for houmous yet, but it should work a treat.
Just started a mainly vegan diet and had not realised how many beans you can buy! No idea what to choose so just bought this bundle. Tried a couple of recipes so far from the site and really wonderful. Who knew beans were so versatile and tasty!
Interesting to see these cooking instructions. However, I would like to recommend YQ as a bread flour. After some five years of using various Hodmedod's wheats for my bread, this is one of the very best I have tried - I get loads of compliments from family and friends whenever I bake with this flour.
Just arrived - quickly - but really looking forward to trying them.
I've just cooked them in a rice cooker to accompany a meal. Really tasty and definitely better than brown rice.
