A nourishing, plant-based classic made with British-grown grains and pulses - finished with a spoonful of SUCSEED for extra fibre, healthy fats and botanical goodness.

This traditional broth features Hodmedod’s Broth Mix, packed with UK-grown barley, peas, and lentils that deliver plant protein, slow-release energy, and soluble fibre to nourish gut bacteria. It's finished with SUCSEED Immunity seed mix, which adds omega-rich seeds and botanicals such as turmeric, ginger, black pepper, rosehip & elderberry to support your immune health.

Serves: 4–6 | Prep time: 10 mins | Cook time: 50 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2 sticks Celery, diced
  • 3–4 Carrots, diced (about 500g)
  • 200g Hodmedod’s Broth Mix (soaked overnight)
  • 2.5 litres Vegetable Stock
  • 200g Kale, Spinach or Parsley, chopped
  • 2 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 tbsp SUCSEED Immunity

Method

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in the celery and carrots and cook for another 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add the soaked broth mix and vegetable stock, then season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 40–45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grains and pulses are tender.
  6. Stir in the chopped kale or greens and cook for another 5–10 minutes.
  7. Remove from the heat and stir through the SUCSEED just before serving for added texture and nutrition.
