This flour is revolutionary! It's milled from the YQ (Yield and Quality) wheat population bred at Wakelyns Agroforestry by Professor Martin Wolfe and the Organic Research Centre. The population is a crop of extraordinary diversity, that's emerged over time from a wide range of carefully chosen parent varieties, leading to fields of millions of genetically distinct individual wheat plants rather than the usual genetically uniform monocultures.
Too many farmland species are under threat from intensive farming, yet farming needs healthy wildlife to secure food production for the future. The RSPB’s Fair to Nature scheme is helping to make space on farms for birds, bees, butterflies, wildflowers, and more.
YQ flour has great texture and flavour, and is suitable for sourdough breads, pastry and cakes. It is wholemeal and stone-ground and retains all the nutrients and wholesome flavour of wholegrain wheat.

Revolutionary flour
My first loaf using Hope Farm YQ wholemeal together with Crow Hill Farm Rye starter/leaven, I found the taste exceptional with a lovely moist crumb, no big holes but plenty of acceptable ones. I baked it with a reasonable amount of steam in the oven. This flour is not cheap but for me the quality well justifies the cost.

Great taste, nutritious, versatile. I love its squiggly shape and the way it takes on whatever vege, sauce etc I cook to go with it or simply served with oil, black pepper, parmesan

I love them. Have had them several times before, and I’m happy to eat them knowing where they have been grown, unlike the ones in the supermarkets and food shops, which come from outside the UK.
I love this apple syrup but not many shops stock it, so I was very pleased to find it at Hodmedods on their recent open day
I’ve got news for Hodmedod - this sourdough loaf won’t last long at all, it’s far too delicious for that. Our loaf was delivered around 9am this morning. It’s 7pm now and very little of it is left, I don't rate its chances of lasting beyond 9pm tonight. We love its texture and taste and it’s great toasted too. Can’t get enough of it and will be back for more.
