Chetna Makan draws inspiration from her family to show off healthy Indian home cooking at its best, working with few ingredients and straightforward methods to produce dishes with crowd-pleasing flavour, nourishment and comfort.
The book includes a wide variety of recipes, including plenty of dals and other pulse dishes, including a fabulous Five Lentil Dal, Chana Dal with Roasted Aubergine and Tadka Dal, Three ways.
Born in the central Indian city Jabalpur, Chetna worked in Mumbai as a fashion designer before moving to the UK in 2003 and later starring in The Great British Bake-Off.
Chetna appeared at the 2019 British Dal Festival to talk about her love of dal and demonstrate one of the many dal recipes from the book.

I’ve had the mill for a few months now and tried out various recipes for bread, cakes, biscuits and pastry. At times it’s been trial and error, especially for the bread but it’s been well worth the perseverance. The finished product is tasty and nutritious.
Hodmedods provided excellent customer service prior to purchase and the item was delivered quickly. I’m looking forward to my next order of grains. Many thanks
